Os Z-Boys fizeram sua primeira grande aparição em público como a equipe Zephyr no Campeonato Bahne-Cadillac Skateboard, também conhecido como Del Mar Nationals, em 1975. Em um ano, o estilo agressivo dos Z-Boys e sua atitude hard core dominaram o esporte e os young masters Jay Adams, Tony Alva e Stacy Peralta se tornaram ídolos internacionais do universo adolescente.
